This is a boat I obtained very cheap, and it use it 3-4 days a week since I got it. It is mechanically sound in every way but the floor. Some idiot screwed plywood over the existing rotted floor, so when you hit waves the entire deck lifts and falls. Over the winter I need to gut it and start over.

My only area I am concerned is cutting the new stringers & bulkheads if the existing ones are gone. Of corse you can take the old ones and make a template, but I beleive mine are completely rotted to non existence.

From reading on here, I think I understand how to fiberglass. I am just lost on the measuring and cutting of the new pieces.

I own three boats. Glastron is used regularly despite its bad floor until my four winns has its engine & drive back in.. Once this happens I will be able to start working on the glastron and tackle the floor stringers bulkheads myself (with a little help).

The sea ray is another story for another thread........

If the wood is rotten, but the glass is still intact, might want to try taking a piece of cardboard, put it beside the stringer and then cut a makeshift template. If you have any spots that are not flush some extra peanut butter or little pieces of fiberglass will make the difference. I am not familiar with the stringer design, but keel stringers usually are an inch to a inch and a half, and other stringers are around the 3/4 inch width.

In the past I have use card board, use two pcs cut close not perfic space 1" or so apart duck tape to hold in place then line inside with light weight plastic(garbage bag) and get some spray foam and fill in contors. I am not saying the best way but it worked for me.

After the floor is out..you can grid beam to beam and 1 string for/aft ( for each Stringer ) with string just touching your stringers/bulks.

When your ready and the old stuff is out..put the string back and do measurements for your rough cut.

Then your rough cut can be put in there and using your for/aft string measure the distance between the string and the top of the stringer..take a compass with that same distance and scribe along the keel/bottom edge of the wood..thats where you need to cut for your shape and level.

Do the same for the bulks.

Just one suggestion .. get pics up when your ready for the resto :) .

Will do.'

I just had a ton of water empty out from a super hard rain and the dreaded coffee color bilge water came out. So without a doubt it is going to be a rotted mess underneath..........
