Need to know year

Have a johnson Seahorse 25 hp. Model # M25R75B serial number C33112. I need to know the year. Also, is there a way to test the Charging coils on the magneto ?<br />TSM

Hello TSM and welcome to iboats.<br /><br />Your 25 horse is a 1975.<br /><br />Easy way to check ignition system is to test for spark. If you can rig a tester with adjustable gap, the spark on your engine should jump a gap of at least 7/16" with a hot white spark. If it does, then it would appear your ignition system is in fine shape.<br /><br />Hope we've helped.

I have a spark on one plug. When I unplug the outputs from the Magneto and reverse them I have a spark on the other plug. This proves the coils, plug and wires work. Could the magneto only be generating on one side ?
