The best way to get ID answers is to post up some pictures so we can see what you have.
Instructions for Posting Pictures The more the better but especially things like bow handles, transom corners, ect that can be sort of signature.
Even without an ID a boat is a boat and while Aluminum(tinny) boats differ from Fiberglass boats the construction of each type is pretty much the same. That said swing down through the restoration section and do some reading. There's lots of knowledge down there and it'll give you an idea of he's in for.
Once you have that done - jump in with both feet, start a thread either to ask questions or so we can follow along as we love to watch old boats get love and be brought back into service.
