I am going to repaint my boat. Is there any way to stop the crazing other than removing the old gelcoat? I have all thesee tiny spiderweb cracks in the gelcoat and it came thru the paint that was on top of that. I don't want that happening again so I need some help here.<br />What can I do?

Maybe some auto glazing putty? It's orange and in a small tube. There's also Capt.Tolly's creeping crack cure.

Re: Need some help with Crazing

I'm with snapper! Ijust used Gluvit to repair bad crazing on my hull. I first sanded the hull to remove the high spots that tend to form on both sides of each crazed crack. Then applyed GLUVIT. It goes on like honey. After 2 days of drying I began to sand AGAIN. Now the areas that were crazed are completely filled and sealed. I'm very happy. Primer comes next for me. Good Luck.

Can one of you guys define "crazing"<br /><br />I have a 1974 fiberglass boat with alot of hairline cracks in the gelcoat, along with circlular cracks. I need help on fixing this before I paint.

ajp,<br />That's crazing........small cracks that resemble a spiderwed. The Gluvit seems to work....will know for sure after I use the boat for a season or two.
