Re: Need some help OMC 5.8 Cobra no spark

Ok had a mobile mechanic come out well that was a waste knew something was wrong when I had to tell him the proper Gap lol

Anyway bought a new starter put it in tonight turned on batteries and the starter is engaging immediately???
What can cause the starter to stay engaged?

New battery
new points cap/rotor
Starter
Solenoid Assist (slave)

Please any advice

THanks

Sounds like an electrical problem, maybe a short in the starter circuit or ignition switch?

I'm going to close this thread for right now. You have another thread about the starting problem. Once you get the starting problem fixed, your spark will probably come back since that solenoid you have that is wrong also puts power to the igntion system when starting.
