need some help bad-wrong controls

the throttle cable that goes in my control box has the wire out the end that a set screw tightens up on.cant find a cable like this nowhere.does anybody know where to look.85 johnson 90 horse,got the numbers on contol box but cant find out what year it is.Im a real greenhorn,just learning about outboards.

If you have the old cable, the part numbers should be stamped in the sheathing within a couple of feet of one end.

Ive looked everywhere on that cable,i cant find nothing.It looks old and done got hard.I thought it would be easy since the engine was a 85 model.

You may not have OMC cables in the control box. Possible you have a 78 box. OMC changed cables in the 1979 model year. They still make both cable types. You can get either cable (pre 79) or 1979 and later- from any Bombardier dealer. Just tell them what length.

The cables that TD linked to are Teleflex standard replacements. The last two numbers in their part numbers list the length of the cable.

The OEM cables were numbered from 377365 to 379850 with 377365 = 5 Feet and 379850 = 50 Feet. Most shorter lengths are still available through BRP dealers.
