today I took my 19ft peterborough out for it's 2nd ride of the year. when I left the marina, it was not running on all 4 cyls, so I slapped in some new plugs. then away I go on my merry way. this is an old early to mid 80's 4cyl, 3.0 liter 140hp omc....the blue block. I was giving it a few shots of WOT, but had installed a fin on my lower unit which brings my rpm way up to like 5k, and I figured that was too much, so backed it down to about 4400 rpm. all was good for about 5 minutes, then BANG! I have heard that sound before.....and pretty sure my valves buried into a piston.

anyway, it's an old boat that I have had for at least 15 years, and just laid a new floor down in it. it also needs the transom rebuilt inside....which I have no problem doing myself. I was just going to take a weekend and yank the motor and go at it. but now....with needing a new cyl head, I am not sure i am going to bother. that is unless someone can steer me in a direction where I can get a decent deal on an used one. I don't feel much like dumping too much money into this old boat....but have dumped in enough already that I don't want to scrap it for nothing. so....anyone have a decent head laying around? I haven't taken off the head yet, and it "might" still be ok, but I am expecting and preparing for the worst. what would be cool is a link to any place that has salvage parts. google didn't come up with much. thanks in advance.

Edit: oh ya....I am new here. 1st post. this is usually how I start out on a forum. run into a problem and seek help. then stick around to lend a hand when I can. been 8 years on my motorcycle forum and 2 for my truck, so only fitting a find a "home" for my boat. so...hi all! :p
