I have a 94 Reinell with very low hours and is in great shape for an old girl. Has always been a champ till this week at lake. Started and ran then stopped cold no sputter. Started and ran fine for hour then stopped cold again. Started and ran fine. Next day had three such occurrences over the course of a 3 hour outing . Then it stopped and would not start, though it turned over. My Marina lost its Ford analysis equipment. he says fuel is getting there, but no spark. He suspects distributor Stator 3854224 or computer part. I agreed to replace both BUT he says part not available as OMC bankrupt, Ford exited marine products. Does anyone know solution? Thanks J O

See if Volvo Penta used the same part on their engines, many parts were the same with the same part numbers. I have a number of V/P parts on my OMC engine (exhaust system and hoses, Holley carb adapter plate, water passage nipple that is not sold by OMC but is sold by V/P, same part). Also try SeaWay Marine in Washington.

There will not be a Volvo equivalent available either since 94 was already the joint venture timeframe. You are just going to have to find a Ford marine distributor for your size engine.

Be prepared for down the road when the FI goes out to have a similar issues finding parts. Many just pull all the FI and put on a carb.

I looked in the on line Volvo Penta web catalog and they also list the same part same # as NLA sorry about that. Try Sea Way marine or EBay. Ford marine engines were good but the parts are drying up.

OMC went bankrupt in 2000, nearly 20 years ago.

parts for your ford havent been available since about then

you can get a mallory distributor and convert your EFI motor to carb.

In the mean time, I would go to the auto parts store and look at a trigger for an EFI Ford 5.0 for 1994.

It just might be the same as what OMC used. And it doesn't need to be marine - No sparks.

If you have the TFI module aka Thick film module on the side of the distributor you should be able to match it up at a NAPA store. It is held on with some tiny screws.

Post a pic of the dizzy. As these guys eluded to i bet its just a standard tfi dizzy .in which case a pickup coil or the tfi module itself is a fairly easy fix and available at the parts store just down the street.

i go through it every few years as my daily driver is of this era

speaking of which , you mentioned the marina didn't have any Ford testing equipment ,this could just be a simple ignition module failure .

Take that module off and most parts store can bench test them , just tell them it's off a f150
