Need info on this specific motor

I’ve searched the Internet over and over. I catch tidbits of info on my motor. It’s a 40hp Mariner outboard motor. It’s either 1972 or 1973. It’s made by Yamaha. It’s a pull start and electric start. It has a huge 40 on the back of the cover which is supposed to be special (so I’ve read). I finally got the motor running but I need some parts for it. If anyone can help lead me in the direction I need to be in, it would be greatly appreciated.

Local Mercury dealer can help you with that. That motor looks to be more from the 80s than 70s.

Really can't make out the first digit in serial number.
Looks like a 7 but it can't be.
But yes, probably early 80's
