I have purchased a 1989 Invader 240 rear cabin. When I open the engine hatch, I see two white plastic tanks, on on the left beside the batteries and one on the right right at the transom. I think the one on the right is for fresh water. The one on the left has two hoses connected to the side of the tank about 2/3 of way down the side. I have no idea what this is for. Also the boat used to have a marine toilet, where would the holding tank be? If anyone can give me some idea as to what the tanks are used for, I would greatly appreciate it.

Pics would help, but if there was a head in the boat, it would have a tank with one line going from the toilet to the tank, and another from the tank to a pump out cap on the gunnel. Seems like you found ur raw holding tank.

Pop off a hose and take a whiff. Should be pretty easy to determine what was in the tank.

Is there a typical layout of where tanks (water, fuel, waste) are placed under the deck? I have white plastic tanks that I can only guess what they are for.

No . . . but the fill fixtures on the deck would give an indication since the (waste, water, fuel) will be located near their respective tanks.

Yep...the nose will know....a quick smell on each will tell you what is in there...
