My last duty station was at a Naval Maintenance Facility in quality control making certain the the finished work package was complete with everything from chain of custody paperwork for welding rods to copies of the current eye tests for the welders and inspectors.
Years ago I did some work for a UK firm called Powergen, I did similar for them (helped set up a new QC and trace-ability system etc), mostly coal and gas fired stations but nukes too. Also done some NDT myself, mostly magnetic/die-pen and ultrasonic but some Xray bombing.

PA is still using some coal powered plants, might be cheaper? Or at least pretty sure that's what I saw coming up from WVA through Pitt.

NY destroyed the Somerset plant (coal) and in their infinite wisdom pulled all the railroad tracks up last summer leading to it. I mention that as they now have a project on the table to introduce a new port for lakers & ocean going vessels at Somerset to transfer goods which...wait for it...a railroad would be perfect for. Nothing like planning ahead...

Remember that just1 million electric cars zipping along on the roads at 60 miles/ hr require about 15 to 20 million HP .----So when they are plugged in that power needs to be generated somewhere.
