Hello, I have a 1981 Glascon, with a 150 Mercury Black max. the motor wont lift all the way to the top because it runs out of oil, i then add oil to get it to its lock position but when i put the motor down the resivoir is too full and it spits all the oil out and again I have problems getting the engine back up unless I add more oil. If anyone can help please let me know Ive run out of ideas. thanks

Welcome to iboats!

You would be better off posting this in the Mercury/Mariner outboard section. Perhaps a friendly moderator will move this thread for you.

Warren, can you post some pics of your pump and ram(s)...is it a 4 hydraulic line pump with the manual release knob...or does your pump have a soleniod down on the lower control valve (the solenoid is a silver looking, cylindrical unit with a wire terminal post on it)...sounds like you have a mis-match of something...the pumps with the knurled manual release knob should have the reservoir filled with the engine in the up position...the pumps that have the newer style lower control valve that has the solenoid on it, these pumps are filled with the engine in the Down position..
