We just bought a used 1998 225 optimax with good compression. We put it on a 23 mako and the first time out it ran beautiful up to 5300 rpm for approximately 30 seconds then it started to sputter or misses like it was starving for gas. After slowing down to 2800 rpm it runs fine but as you try to accelerate it sputters again. We drained a little water out of the boat gas filter and changed the 2 motor gas filters but no change, it still runs great for about a minute then it starts to miss and sputter again. Any ideas?
