need help with mercury tilt/trim problem

I have a late 80s 35HP mercury with tilt/trim. Coming back in from fishing tilt up would not work. Tilt down works fine. I checked switch and voltage out to motor and it looks good. I understand there might be relays somewhere on the motor. I did not see them when I first looked, but did not know there were any. Are there relays with all tilt/trim setups? Where are they located and could this be the problem?

I am not sure about your motor, however, most PTT units have a solenoid (or relay) for the up circuit. Most (but not all) have a down solenoid. You need to cleck to see what you have. A visit to crowleymarine.com parts diaghram is a good idea.
