I bought a 16' sea nymph a couple of weeks ago. The live-well in the boat was disconnected and used for storage. The thru-hull pump in the transom is still there and working, and the thru-hull overflow is also there.

The live well has a few holes in the bottom and sides and Im not sure what they are for?

Also there is two metal things on each side and I am not sure what they are for?

I dont know to much about live-wells but I know they need a pump to fill them, a drain, and an overflow. Is there something im missing because this live-well has 5 holes in the bottom.

Re: Need Help With Live-well!

I believe the brackets are for a divider to split the livewell into two sections. If you were bass fishing with someone during a tournament, you could put yours on one side and his on the other. My Fisher boat was like that, I could slide in a panel that would split the livewell into two separate compartments. NOt sure in the 5th photo what those 2 small holes are to the right. I would guess the other two holes are either drains or to equal the separate tank levels.

Re: Need Help With Live-well!

This is no longer a live well and without plugging some of the "drilled" holes it will never again be. The only factory hole is the one in the first picture. It apparently has a nipple welded to the tank for the drain hose that runs to the stern. The spray bar at the top is fed from the pump and that puts water in the tank. Somewhere close to the top there should be an overflow hole. A stopper would be needed to plug the drain, or there may be a remote control valve near the console to open and close the drain. If there is no such valve AND there is no overflow, a standpipe is inserted into the drain. This is nothing more than a piece of plastic tubing with a rubber fitting on the end that sticks into the drain hole. the pipe is just a bit shorter than the tank is deep. When water gets to the top of the pipe it runs over and goes down the drain.

Re: Need Help With Live-well!

Thanks for the info! The live-well does have an overflow near the top that was once connected to a thru-hull fitting. Theres no nipple on the bottom, just a hole, so I need to make it a water tight drain somehow. So In order to make this a working live-well I need to plug all the holes except for three, the drain, the pump hole that goes to the spray bar, and the overflow. Do you guys have any idea how I should plug those little holes?

Re: Need Help With Live-well!

Can you post a photo of the back side (side that has the sprayer mounted to it) and bottom of the tank? There's several of things that don't make sense, 1. where's the hose going to? Is that black hose going to another hole in the floor of the tank? If it is that's a terrible design. 2. Is this aluminum or Galvanized?

Re: Need Help With Live-well!

I can post a pic when I get home, The back( where the sprayer is mounted) has no holes, except for two small 1/4" holes near the bottom. The black hose connected to the sprayer isn't going to a any hole, and I don't understand where it would of ever gone because thats as far over as it can go? Im not sure how to tell if i is aluminum or galvanized but its not to heavy so probably aluminum.

Here is a pic of the back of the live-well. I/m still trying to figure out where that black hose would of went to, maybe the bottom?

I also posted a pic of the over flow.

Any ideas of how I would plug all the non needed holes so they don't leak?
