Need Help with Ignition

A 3 cylinder 60 HP with those compression values needs work.-----Model # is ??----I would take head off to inspect cylinder walls.

Yikes! Sounds like bad news. I haven’t messed with the 60hp, other then checking compression and spark. Trying to get this 8hp going. It’s running but won’t idle.

Sorry for the confusion. I keep calling it a 6hp. It’s an 8hp…1996

Clean the carburetor on the 8 HP.

I took it apart completely and rebuilt it. It had a bunch of gunk from the old gasket. Soaked it in carb cleaning fluid, poked a wire through all the orafices and blew air through them and visually inspected with a light. Maybe the float adjustment? I didn’t mess with that.

I adjusted the throttle so that the roller matched up with the mark on the cam? Got this result. Is this normal idle?

Darn, I wish you could see the videos. They usually work for me by clicking or double clicking on the video itself. The motor seems to be running well. It’s idling and reving up without any misfires. It’s also starting reliably. Thanks for all of your insight. Next step is to get the 60hp running if I can. Can’t find a model number. The number on the transom is missing and I can’t see anything stamped on the block. I thin the previous owner painted over it. Not sure where it’s usually located other than the transom.

Located the serial number: G253264. No luck interpreting so far. Evinrude customer service closed today. Will call them tomorrow.
