Re: NEED HELP WITH EVINRUDE MOTOR

Helen.... The engine either has it's air intake inlets plugged (under the bottom carburetor, and at the top rear portion of the hood), or the engine has an exhaust leak.

In the case of an exhaust leak, with the hood installed, the carburetors would be drawing in exhaust fumes.

Re: NEED HELP WITH EVINRUDE MOTOR

Hi Hellen
There are probably three main things that cause this. #1 Exhaust leak, You may have a seal or gasket leaking allowing exhaust to be traped under the hood suffacating the motor.#2 Loose sound blanket/s cutting off air to the carb. #3 Electrical short, your spark wires may be shorting to a latch, etc. Look for any wires that may be a problem. My Guess, with this model, Exhaust leak. Where? Where the shift wires decend into the exhaust housing, also there is a large rubber seal at the bottom of the inner exhaust tube (this is probably where the problem originates). If you have the mechanical shift model that's ok, same idea only diffent.
