Re: NEED HELP WITH EVINRUDE MOTOR

sounds more like an air supply problem, make sure that air intake at lower front is not blocked by something

Hi, Helen.

Did you get the Repair Manual we advised you to get when you last posted this question?

I recall that Joe Reeves also offered advice.

Believe me, Helen. You need the manual.

Good luck. :)

That model 85 has a habit of shorting the spark plug wires out on the hood latches. Route the spark plug wires where the bottom wire makes a loop upward then down to the spark plug. Do this on both heads and be very careful when you put the cowling bake on to not catch the wires.

Hi Helen
Everybody here would love to help you with your situation. You have been given most all of the possible causes that I can think off. You need to communicate to us how you have determined or ruled out complecations. Did you rule out the hood latch idea? How? How do you know the problem is an exhaust leak? Did you preform a smoke test? Does your model have electric shift? Did you look for a leak where the shift wires decend into the exhaust housing? I could ask you questions all day long. If you don't know what I am talking about,it is fruitless.

Re: NEED HELP WITH EVINRUDE MOTOR

seems as tho that IS a common thing, according to the posts Ive read, the exhaust fills the cowl, and effectively chokes the motor out

that being said, alcan has guru status on here, give him enough clues and hell solve the case, a regular Sherlock Holmes

Quick Watson! The game is afoot!
