Need help with controls for my 83 70hp Johnny

I need to replace the controls that I have on my 1983 Johnson 70hp. Will any OMC control box work? Also, the cables on my motor are shot, is that the same for all OMC's as well? Thanks!

Parrott<br /><br />Most controls will work on the OMC's. The cables will match up. What type of control do you have now? Side mount or binnacle? 6909,<br />The current (new) control box may not be a direct replacement.The shift and throttle cables should be ok (replace them if they are that old).The new control wire harness is only about a foot long,so you need the correct wire harness between the control and your engine.<br />DHPMARINE
