Guys I have been working on a 1998 210dc for the past few months, this past weekend we were at the final stage and were lifting the boat up off a bad trailer to place it on the new trailer. While in the air I noticed water dripping from the port side about 8' from the bow. After further inspection it appears that the leak is right where the side of the boat meets the bottom. it looks to me like the boat came off the trailer and went down the highway and it took about a half an inch of material off the part that is leaking. the actual crack is about 6 inches long and a quarter inch wide. The part that is scrapped away is about 30" long. Appears that about 1/2 inch of material is gone at the worst part. Also around the same line around the boat there are chips in the gelcoat. Now this section (not sure what its called) looks like it is about a half inch plus of solid material below the boat (i guess used for stability) *I have been calling them tines not sure if that is correct.
I am wondering what the opinions are on repairing this. I was thinking of using Marine-tex or should I refiberglass? Do you think this is someting I could repair on my own or should I bring it somewhere? The leak itself is a slow drip. I believe the boat has fiberglass stringers so I think I am safe there. My next question is do I just repair the crack itself or do I build back up the 30 or so inches that apears to have been shaved off.
Any thoughts or help would be GREATLY appreciated...
