I have a 2008 Merc 9.9 4 Stroke that will not idle for me. This was probably due to poor prep by the original owner, but I need a fix. I can get the motor started in high idle with the choke, it will run OK, but cut the choke or the throttle and it stalls. I cleaned the entire fuel line out, filter, drained the carb, replaced the plugs and added QuickKleen fuel additive. Helped a bit, but not completely fixed. Drained the carb about 3-4 times to flush, but still has a problem. Do these carbs have mixture adjustments somewhere?
Im thinking the carb needs rebuilt. Warrentee doesnt cover this problem! Does anyone have any insight to these 4 stroke carbs? Im no marine mechanic, but know my way around motors. How difficult would this be? Any tips for troubleshooting? I need to FISH!! Help!! lol.
