Hello everyone and thanks ahead of time
First time bout owner and my boat has a 1978 70 hp 3 cylinder outboard motor
My question is today when I was winterizing the engine I had to use the jumper cables to start the boat with the boat of the bat volt was 12.03 when I got the boat started and at idle or warm up I did not want to rev the engine because I only had the muffs on the voltmeter would read 12.39 v I would imagine that that?s to low to charge the engine because I believe it should read at least 14v I am somewhat handy but would need help to figure out what?s wrong thanks a million again any help would be great
thanks

Could have a bad rectifier, but go to CDI Electronics.com as they have good procedures for checking out the charging system
