What is the rust colored piece attached to the carb? It has a rich/lean arrow on surface. Can the whole thing go into the carb cleaner and soak overnight? Lot of corrosion on this carb and needs a good soaking and clean up. Carb kit on the way. thanks for the help. I've done quite a few erude carbs but this one has me a bit baffled. thanks for the help. mike

It is the water heated automatic choke. I suppose the brown part could stand the carb cleaner, but you certainly should remove the bi-metal cover and diaphragm assembly. It's been a long time, but I believe the brown part is easy enough to get off too. The carb cleaner might remove the protective coating (hot water flows through it). I'd remove it.

When F_R posts, I pay attention! There is a reason he recommended you remove it. Good luck!
