NEED HELP w Min KOTA

I have a 2002 Min Kota Power Drive Trolling motor that was on the boat when I purchased. It states Auto pilot on the side but I have not been able to locate an owners manual. I can run it fine other than I cannot figure out how to turn on the autopilot.

I have downloaded owners manuals on several MK products direct from the web site. Have you tried that??

It's the button on head unit that say's auto pilot. Put in the water, point it in the direction you want to go, hit the button and it'll keep you on that course. The only problem with them is that occasionally they will lose their location and start spining you in circles. I think the new ones are better. My Terrova and my Powerdrive both did it. That motor will also accept the remote control that straps on your wrist but unlike the Terrova's the autopilot is a manual on/off by pressing the head button.

Thanks as far as the owners manual. I will try that but there is no button on the head of the trolling motor??? Was the motor pieced together or is the auto pilot operated from the foot control?

Are you sure it says "AUTO PILOT" and not "CO-PILOT". Big difference. And who knows, someone may have simply installed Auto Pilot side covers on a standard motor and waoted for someone to fall for the scam.

i think you can put a AP compass in any Minn Kota but you will need the top half of the head with the AP button in it. It will be worth your expense and trouble! It was $85 for my compass. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. It appears that someone put an auto pilot side cover on this 12 volt 50lb 2002 Powerdrive as Silvertip mentioned. It has a copilot cover on the other side and does have the copilot capability. I would like to add auto pilot and see that you can buy the auto pilot but not sure if you have to add anything further than the auto pilot kit. Does this kit have a switch or do you have to replace the top half of the head as Star mentioned?
