need help troubleshooting

I have 1999 VIP vision with 6 cylinder engine and i recently had an accident where i tore up my prop. i replace the prop but now when i get on the water whenever my boat goes beyond 2000 rpm, it stops dead in the water and just revs up until i pull it back to neutral does anyone know what my be wrong?

Only other thing then your prop that can do that is the coupler. Requires engine removal to replace and will get worse.

would going from a 2 piece prop to a regular one piece make a difference?

I think we're at the point of needing some more information.... Like - What is the engine? What is the drive? (Please include serial numbers or year of manufacture) What was the old prop? What is the new one? And what do you mean by 1 piece and 2 piece props?

Maybe the 2 piece is what he ended up with after hitting ground

well its a 1999 vip vision with a 4.3 mercury 6 cylinder inboard engine and i had bought it with a 4 blade propeller 14x21
and its worked fine

Ayuh,.... 'n ya hit bottom, Crushin' the prop, ya changed the prop, 'n it still don't go good...

That means the odds are rather High, that the coupler is also trashed....

Pull the drive, 'n look in through the little hole the driveshaft comes out through...
You'll be lookin' at the Coupler...
You'll need to pull the motor to change it...
Then the motor will need to be realigned, so ya don't trash the New coupler...
