As the pictures show, I'm having trouble re-assembling the items. If anyone has a 25HP 1985 Evinrude, maybe they can look at theirs and help me out. Or, if anyone knows how to assemble it correctly, please let me know. Problem:
I was pulling my boat with the motor in the tilted up position (to elevate the foot from the road). I hit a bump in the road and the motor fell down and bent the locking mechanism. I pulled it off and straightened it, but due to a time lapse, I can't seem to get it back together. In other words, I need some assembly instructions.
Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Not sure if you have found my other post HighTrim. If not, I thank you again for your help. Unfortunately, the drawing was too fuzzy to read very well. I had asked if you could email a more legible copy to me. If so, please forward to: charles2009@bellsouth.net. Hopefully, it will be more clear for me. Again, thank you.

Glad you got it, sorry about that, I should have mentioned that link that was in quotes would lead you to it, my fault. Good luck.

also that bracket is not designed for towing. it is for tilting the motor when beaching, or when moored. you need a transom saver if you need the road clearance.

Yes sir, you're right. Now have a transom saver installed to support the motor when on the road.
Once I decide the parts I need, if any, do yall sell them there?
Thanks again!

That spring looks as though it has been bent, at least the end with the hook on it. I think it should be straight with just the hook on the end.

Can you post just a close up picture of the spring.

Not 100% reliable but compare its shape with the spring shown in the diagram Hightrim gave the link to.

Re: Need help - See Pictures

Yes sir, the old spring was slightly bent. This is the reason I purchased a new one. Basically, I am very mechanically inclined. But this situation has really caused me to scratch my head a few times (and still don't have the solution). I am in hopes someone who either owns an Evinrude (years 1983 thru 1988), or knows someone who does, can take a look at the assembled tilt mechanism and hopefully take a couple good close photos showing how it goes together. It seems I may get the answer to my questions this way.
Note: I apologize for the multiple posts. In all honesty, I didn't know this was a no-no. However, I do now! And all of you accept my thanks for your efforts.
