Hello all..

Been searching around and can not find the right info i need, hope someone can help me here..

I got an older Regal speedboat with a MerCruiser motor.
A friend did some work on the motor witch went as planned.
Only thing missing now is --> Ignition timing

He informs me that he can't do the setting, since the timing marks is missing.
He says that the main timing mark on the main wheel is there.
But the mark on the engine block is missing..

We both have been searching quite a while to find it, or at least where it should have been.
But we can't find any marks, stickers, place where it seems missing..

I therefor post a picture of the engine, so maybe someone can post me a picture where both marks is present, so we at least know how it looks on this specific engine...

Yes..

As you can see on the picture:

MerCruiser - 4.3/V6 - Alpha One - Thunderbolt IV Ignition

I'm not 100% sure about the year, but i think its from around 1993-1995

if it's a 10 bolt metal timing cover the tab should be on the cover if it has broken off there are a few ways to do the timing...., buy a new timing tab ($8.00)and install it on your metal timing cover remove 2 bolts and install ,or if you have a digital timing light it can be done that way also by lining up TDC and with your dig timing light setting it @8 deg BTDC 650-700 rpms

Re: Need help regarding ignition timing marks

Thanks for the answers guy's..
All helpful, but also pretty much what i've already found so fare myself.

Was kinda hoping to get a photo of an engine same as mine, with both mark indicators intact.
So i can see where it should be placed and how it looks original.

So still hoping someone can provide such a photo )

PS.. Anyone know a good place in Europe where a new timing "plate" thing can be bought ??
