I was preparing the boat for its first run next week after 6 months resting on my drive way.
So starting engine perfectly, I tried push forward and looks like the propel engage very smooth, I can only hear a light click, and it was engaged.
Then I pug the gear in neutral, and backward to revers ( I was doing it firmly, not slowly) and I could hear clucking sound, just couldn't easily engage, and only if i pull backward further (engine rev up to 1200 ), then revers engaged.

Try couple of times and it was always like that, couldn't engage easily, clunking, and engaged only after I pull backward further.
What is the problem?

Thanks guys, appreciate your help, please give me some ideas.
