Doing reseach on a Sportcraft boat I might buy. The drive shaft goes thru the floor. What type of drive is this called? It has two mercuiser engines. Would like to know if parts are still made for this. 1986 Model.:)

The drive shaft goes thru the floor.
Thru the hull at the bottom and extends into the water and straight to a prop? If so, that's a true Inboard. Engine and trans are "inboard" with only the prop "outboard" i.e. underneath . . . Very common and probably a Velvet drive Transmission.

Re: Need Help on Mercuiser Drive?

Those shafts and seals are fairly generic. You can get shafts of different lengths and diameters. Shafts are cut to length after some careful measurements although it is not an exact science for sure. Shaft seal assemblies are called stuffing boxes and are based on the shaft diameter and are also somewhat generic, they attach to a shaft log. You need to talk with your local marine shop to completely understand or do a lot of reading. Good luck!

Most prop repair shops that I have dealt with, can also make shafts, repair bent struts, rudders etc.
