I have problem with my trailering trim up
I can adj the switch for correct trim up stop for on water water travel
and will trim all the way down to full cyl retraction
what I cant understand is when useing trailering switch the outdrive has no stop
It will come all the way up
I just replaced all my bellows and dont want to damage them that was a job.
T assume the trailering works threw the trim switch also or am I wrong
I opened the switch and checked continuity and one wire is open and the other wire is shorted to ground . (checking from wire to bolt on outdrive)
how does this work and drawings
my boat is 87 searay seville and trim control is on shifter one up/down trim button and one trailering push button .
It worked fine last year. and not sure I did something to it when replacing bellows.
Why is my trim limit working fine but trailering up will not limit .
If i could see drawing I might figure it out.
but its blowing my mind right now!

Thanks Rob

Re: Need help on how the trim switch works

After only useing the boat twice in two years because of hole in u-joint bellows I must have forgoten how the trim worked.
I went to my friends house to check his drive out and its the same. He said they all raise all the way up until the pump bogs from drive hitting the
belhousing or cyls max out.
His cyls max out and there is a 1/8 gap between drive and bellhousing
mine goes up against bellhousing.
I guess thats the way it is and the trim switch only controls the on water trim

thanks Rob
be a man and change your own bellows!

Re: Need help on how the trim switch works

You got it right.

If you trim the outdrive up too high while in gear you can damage your drive unit. The trim up button on your controller is limited and will not go up any higher than is safe for the drive unit.

The trailering button is there to bypass that trim up limiter so after the boat is safely on the trailer or docked and no longer under power, you can then use the trailering button to raise the drive to its full up position. It will raise until it can't go any further.

No need to fix a problem that isn't a problem... Happy boating!!!
