Does anyone know the size and pitch of the head bolts
Cylinder Head p/n 0307267

Plus the bolts that attach the mid to the power head,
Exhaust housing to powerhead 0908931 ????

Cylinder head cover 0906409

Thanks folks
If anyone has all the bolt dimensions that would be awesome

Cheers Andy

You need one other dimension: The length of the unthreaded portion. OMC was notorious for making them "special" that way. The surprise came when it wouldn't screw in far enough to seat the part.

Thanks F_R i will check the lengths of the bolts. I have just ordered at thread gauge so will try and get all the sizes from the odd bolts i have. There must be a cheaper way to buy these fasteners than through a BRP agent.

0307267: 5/16 . Pitch 0.055556 .Shank length 28mm x 0.0394 = inch 0908931: 5/16 . Pitch 0.062500 .Shank Lenth 110 mm x 0.0394 = inch 0906409: 1/4 Set Screw .Pitch 0.050000 : Thread length 0.75057 x 25.4 = metric UNC 60 Degree .

Thanks Durban but you have lost me
Is the pitch fine or course is what i was after i know you have given exactly what i had asked for but this is way over my head. What i need are the diameter say 5/16 is it unf or unc total length of fastener (taken from below the hex head) If not a set screw then the size of the threaded portion.
It is probably in your but as soon as you added metric and imperial thats me lost.
Thanks for a thorough explanation but its lost on me.
Cheers Andy

5/16=7.8125 to make it easy for you next time you com across fractions do this divide the numerator by the denominator x the answer by 0.25 then x this answer by 100 .the overhaul length for the 5/16 cylinder head bolt is 2.25 inches x by 25.4 will give you a metric size it is 57.15 mm this is the length you are asking for. The 0908931 length you want is 133mm.The 1/4 length part no 0906409 you looking for is 0.75057 inch x 25.4= 19.06 mm .they are all corse threads FR was telling you about the shank sizes i gave them to you he empisized a very important point

Thanks for that but im still lost
What i am looking for is the dimension of the fastener i have listed above.

I need
L=?
D=?
T=?

all in imperial

The part number 0906409 would be

L=3/4"
D=1/4"
T=3/4"

if im correct that is proper siize ???
Sorry for my lack of understanding
Andy

Not sure in your area , but these bolts can be found at any fastener store.----Just take them in and say I need 20 of these and 30 of these.----Then wait for them to get them.------Spare part storage / packaging / shipping etc is why they cost so much at a dealer.-----Most folks can not grasp that concept !

I appreciate the dealer has over heads. The thing is i dont have a dealer near me.I live in the east of Scotland
I have a fastener and fixing supplier but they work on the basis of give them the size first.
Hopefully i will get all the sizes and maybe the moderators can add it to the secret file

Scotland??? Well I can understand your frustration. They tried to force us Americans to go Metric years ago, and it hasn't happened yet, and never will. Neither will you convert to Inches.

Anyhow, I don't have the measurements for the part numbers you asked about. But the American tradition for expressing bolt sizes follows this example: A bolt that I just picked up at random would be 1/4-20 x 2-3/4". That is what you would ask for at the store. That is 1/4" diameter, by 20 TPI (threads per inch), by 2-3/4" long. The standard threaded portion would be 1" long, leaving 1-3/4" unthreaded. The vast majority of our bolts are either Coarse Thread or Fine Thread. A 1/4" bolt would be either 20 TPI (course) or 28 TPI (fine). It is easy to find TPI specs in charts on the internet.

So..Surly you can find an Inch-ruler somewhere and just measure what you want.

Got it now F_R thanks
We were in inches until 1971.
We buy7 fuel by the litre but we still use miles per gallon lol
our distances are marked in miles, but we measure in meters. Some still find it hard to change to metric but i have only know the metric system.

You're more Metric than you think. Every bolt and nut on modern American cars is Metric.

We in Canada have been Metric since the late '70s but I'm still 5'10 and 210 lbs. Oddly, those are the only Imperial units I use now, well, maybe a pound of butter...

Good luck buying Imperial fasteners in the UK.

Oh, I'm well aware of the Metric fasteners on our cars. Actually, there are inch-bolts on them too. Makes us have both kinds of wrenches to do anything.

I will do plus some spring washers as well
Don't need em.....they can cause false reading in the lower scales. Your are only torqueing to 21 ft lbs total and in three steps,7Ftlbs,14ftlbs,21ftlbs. OEM is 20ft but I round it off to 21ftlbs. Make sure your torque wrench is accurate...I have mine calibrated to MIL specs by some buddies in the service.
