Hi all. I've read quite a few threads and see that identifying old Force outboards is not an uncommon problem. I'm hoping someone can give me a clue that might narrow down the list of likely motors to make my search for the correct model number a little easier. I only need it so I can buy the right repair parts.
All the original, easy to find indicators of serial and model number are gone (or I can't find them). Some previous owner had the boat registered using a stamped part number that is not unique to any particular motor. Here's what I do know.
Photos of the yellow covered box and the paper label are below. My hope is that someone can help me narrow down the range of time or model numbers this engine might be. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

- The motor cover says it is a 90 HP "Force by Mercury Marine"
- The original exterior color was mostly black
- The motor has three cylinders and three carburetors
- Each cylinder has its own coil pack
- The motor has in integral power tilt/lift jack
- On the starboard side of the motor there is a square box about 2" x 2" with a yellow transparent cover. I can see numerous soldered connections under the cover
- A bundle of wires nearby meet at push-in connectors
- One part has a legible paper label on it.
