Hello. New to the forum here and relatively new to outboards.
Got this outboard from a family member who replaced it and left this to rot.

Had a Google to see if parts were available but could not identify it.

Single cylinder
2 stroke
Carb's

Serial number on the leg is #. 661-S001270
Number on engine are 661-00 it also has Yamaha symbol engraved on it
Has a letter y stamped into the casing.

Looks like mid to late 80's

Any help much appreciated
Thanks

The serial number does not come up on many boat engine parts websites . . . If you Google around, it seems like it is a mid-late 1970's air-cooled 5 HP that uses a Yamaha powerhead. The S is for short shaft.

Wow. Thanks for your fast replys.
It does look like it's a 1977 thank you very much.
Stripped it down today. The carb was full of white corrosion. Needs a good clean and a few gaskets made up and possibly crank and small end bearing but will hopefully be a runner.
Its been left in a woods no cover or cowling for a long time.
Thanks for your help
