Need help 1983 50 horse trim and tilt!!!!!!

i have a 1983 johnson 50 hp witha external prestolite trim motor it has three wires black red blue my trim switch has three wires black red green. the trim motor wires are a lot bigger then the switch wires does the motor get wired to some relays because it doesnt seem like the switch or the wires will handle the amps please explain how to wire this it is holding up my project.

Thank you for your help with my trim problem but im still struggling with this situation it looks like this was set up for a remote switch and i am trying to use the control box that has a 16 ga. wire is it going to work or will the amps burn the wire and switch . if possible how is it suppose to be wired

The wires running from the switch to the solenoid are usually 12 gauge.

The diagram should clearly issustate how to wire it. What is it exactly that you are having difficulty with?

Greenmachine is a friend of mine ,Right now there are no wires going from the console to the trim motor,what he wants to know is ,if he can run the trim and tilt from his control handle switch which has a 16 guage wire coming out of it and splice it to the 12 guage wire coming out of trim and tilt, the motor right now does not have any trim solenoids on the motor,so he is worried that the 16 guage will melt going to trim motor,he wants to what his options are,but he wants to use the control throttle switch and not put in a console mounted switch The reason I am righting to you is
HE TYPES ONE WORD PER MINUTE,SO YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW LONG THAT LAST POST TOOK HIM AND THAT ONE RIGHT INDEX FINGER HE USES FOR TYPE IS GOING THROUGH CONVULSIONS RIGHT NOW LOL

He will need a solenoid. It is used to supply the current in the opposite directions.

Thank you for all your help. This probably seems like such a simple thing to you, but it is driving me crazy. Can you please explain what solenoid I need and in detail how to wire everything.
