Hi all , I have recently started rebuilding a 16' Bayliner Capri and while tearing out all rotted material came across these small stringers in my boat they apear to be 1x1 and am wondering if it's necessary to cut out and replace ?? Other than that all seem's to be going great ... Any help would be greatly appreciated ..thank you John

hi....welcome to i boats.....:)

if the wood is rot....its gotta come out....cant tell from the pics.

it looks like you are doing a great job......just a few things...

take the motor off the boat....you are warping the hull.

also when you re-string the boat....make sure the hull is properly supported...if not....you will create a hook in the hull....thats bad.

other than that....it looks great.!

cheers

Thanks for the welcome and the info .. I got the motor off the boat and yes the wood is rotten soo looks like it's gotta come out yay .. as of now the boat is sitting on the trailer is that sufficent enough to support the hull ? Oh yeah another quick question those little stringers are just long pieces of 1x is that enough to really add any kind of support or strength to the hull ? Doesnt seem like much to me .. Again thank's so much for the info ... John
