Need Advise!!!!! On Sport Jet 90 engine Merc !!!!!

I have a 95 Baja Blast ski boat with a Sport Jet 90 Merc. engine serial #0E077816. I bought this boat from a friend (not fireing). He had a magnet to come loose from the flywheel and it broke into 2 pieces so he glued it back on, when the magnet broke it mesed up the stator, so he went and had the stator replaced at the marina shop and they put on the red stator with the new stator adaptor. The engine is not getting no fire to the plugs. I have just ordered a new flywheel, new CDI switchbox, and new CDI rectifier part #194-5279. Here's my question, when I was looking to order my rectifer I talked to a Mercury Tech and he stated that I should have not used the red stator because he doesnt think it will work on my engine. Is this true or is he just saying this because this stator is not an OEM stator. Also any help I could get on my fireing problem would be appreciated!!!!

It is not true as the red stator and adapter are OEM (Merc) and works on several different hp engines. Your firing problem should have been tested before parts thrown at motor, could be as simple as bad kill switch. Did it run after stator was replaced? If not why did he pay for it?

I was told that when the magnets broke off in the flywheel he glued them back in and the motor wouldn't fire, so he brought it to the shop and they told him that the magnets destroyed his old stator, so he had them to replace it and they put on the red stator and stator adaptor and it still wouldn't fire at the coils. So when I got it from him I went on and ordered a new flywheel which it needed anyways, and I just figured the fireing problem was the CDI switchbox and I never change the switchbox without changing the rectifier because if there is a problem with the rectifier it can blow the new switchbox, and they are to expensive to take a chance on.
