2003 mercury 50 hp/ 2stroke/ 3 cyl /elpto/model 1050412ad/ ser. ot728793. pushing a 20 ft pontoon/ with medium load. current prop is a/Solas yc-42-16 . 3311-121-09. OK. the issue is i think i have a spun hub. i can throttle up to maybe 3000/3500 rpm. after that the higher the rpm's the slower i get. the Big question is before i buy i new prop i am looking for some help with the pitch. i think the 9 pitch is not enough some friends say i need a 13 pitch. right now it hits 6000 rpm's so i guess that is wot. and does the 12.1 dia sound right

Pontoons are more critical to motor height than any other type of boat. Engine height should be adjusted for every person added or removed, and if they move forward or aft

They really need a hydraulic jack plate

That being said, define a "medium load"

Where is the anti-vent plate with respect to the waterline while underway?

Too deep and you plow, to shallow and you ventilate

As far as diameter, how much room between the prop tip and the anti-vent plate?

As far as pitch, if you are hitting WOT RPM, your current prop is fine

If your cylinders leak in water slowly ??? Older boats. Should be tilted stern downward. left ..right level. With drain plugs out. Or a suction hose used.

Sounds like motor is mounted too high.-----Dount that a 13" prop works for your set-up.

+1 on motor height is critical on a pontoon. I've got one. On mine, just 11/2 inches lower made a huge difference on my repower.
plus, is the prop in good shape.
also, my merc has a plastic ring that snaps in place at the gap between the prop and gear case to eliminate ventilation from exhaust gas. Maybe check to see if you're supposed to have one.

put a new solas 11.1 dia. 13 pitch on and yes i have a gap between the prop hub and the gearcase i dont think is normal . i can turn the forward thust washer over and no gap. but then prop nut bottoms out brfore prop is thight. please tell me where i can get the ring you show in the picture i do think i have exhaust leak issue. been working on boats 50 years and never saw a spacer like that but i sure need one really think it will help

I can't tell you specifically what you may need. That's going beyond my knowledge. I don't know what props fit that motor, or if yours does.
My thrust washer only fits one way as it has a beveled hole to match the shaft bevel. My thrust washer has a flat that fits into the plastic prop hub, so the wider flat of the thrust washer faces the gearcase. My thrust washer doesn't look like yours...Is yours correct?
Some props slip inside the gearcase and may not need a ring....I'm not there, I don't know.
these are the 2 types of rings I know of. You may need the type that fits over that end of your prop.
Maybe call Solas. Some manufactures supply a ring with their prop. I know turning point did.
when something doesn't fit right for me, I go back to square one.
