I have a 1987 17' Proline, it has a OMC Sea Drive bracket and a siezed 115 OMC, the bracket still works, so I would like to mount a used motor right to the bracket, or does anyone have a bracket and motor that does not cost a fortune.
Thank You,

you could mount a conventional engine on the bracket, but it will be alot of work ,you will need to get to upper motor mounts which means pulling the powerhead of the replacment eng, unfortunatly, the seadrive pats are becoming very scarce,so most ,as I now am,putting a manufactured bracket on the hull after glassing up the holes, then mounting an eng of your choice,if you stay with OMC,you can reuse all the wiring, controls and depending what steering config, you have maybe adapt.mine useda cable, some hydraulic could be reused ,but you may need a new ram. There is a good cable unit avail.called NO-FEEDBACK,you dont have the wheel travel like yrs.ago and far cheaper than hydraulic

I also have a 1987 17' Pro-Line CC with a 1985 1.6 OMC SeaDrive, blown #3 cylinder( lower left). I am looking for interchange advice/recommendations. Does anyone know which years or models I can swap the powerhead with? I have a flatback crossflow, can a bubbleback unit be cleanly swapped out? Or are there differences on the block also, that may not allow a strait swap? (shift bracket, carb or VRO mounting, etc).
I think that I will stick with the SeaDrive for now, the alternative is too much of a project at the moment.
