Standard six terminal push to choke ignition switch. Buy one right here at iboats store.

Wiring depends upon year and ignition type. However, Standard is red to battery, green to choke, yellow to start. Purple is not used and orange is overheat indicator--not connected to switch. Black is groiund and is used under the dash if at all--again, not connected to switch.

Blue and white differ depending upon ignition type. If a distributor ignition, blue goes to "I" terminal and white is tachometer signal--not attached to switch.

If a Prestolite no distributor system, blue attaches to one "M" terminal and white attaches to the other. "M" terminal.

Even though the decal on the engine says Magneto, the blue wire attaches to the "I" terminal. It supplies power to the CD box. White wire is a tachometer signal.

The purple wire says tach, and on later engines it is an AC signal for tachometer, but with distributor ignitions it is simply not used.

Sounds to me like a your engine may have had the problematical Magna-Power II ignition and when it failed it was converted back to distributor ignition. If you look under the flywheel and the alternator stator mount is unpainted aluminum instead of Chrysler white, then that is indeed most likely what happened.
