Re: NCAA Tournament Challenge

...UK, Defending national champs getting beat the first round in the NIT, holding a #1 spot.

Just got off the phone with my brother, a professor at UK. Let's just say the mood is not good in Lexington. Gonna be interesting for them next year with arguably the best recruiting class ever coming to the Wildcats. This years freshman team, who thought they would be one and done, didn't play well together, didn't improve their NBA stock and do not look good for the draft, and most will probably not be starters on next years squad. Look for a mass exodus to other teams ...

Will be interesting. A top recruiting class doesn't mean everything. Just ask Ben Howland of UCLA. We had 2 of the top 3 recruits. Even though UCLA did win the Pac-12, this was supposed to be a top 10 team and final 3 team with the players they have.

Its tough getting freshman coming in to play together, especially if they know that they are only going to be there one year. They need to change the one and done. I would think that letting them go back to turning pro after high school is the best. If they do enter college, the rule should be that they have to stay 2 or 3 years.

Go Bruins!

Local sportscaster says UK is going under the gun for recruiting violations. Could see sanctions this summer.
Not what you or I want to hear. Just to much great history.
The exodus could be biblical.

Ha...Calipari moves from school to school with his scandals. Wouldn't surprise me one bit. Just ask Memphis and UMAss.

I didn't know they changed the HS rule. Or at least, I didn't pay very much attention to it. One and done could really hurt college teams. Why recruit them if you know they'll be out of there after a year? Unless you feel you can win a championship that year. That's a big gamble. Kinda like the NFL and a team I know all too well. Look at the history of a bunch of their QBs/RBs........

They changed back in 2005. Many coaches are willing to take the one and dones because they are just too good to pass up. UCLA has had Kevin Love, Jrue Holliday and now Shabazz. While they were there for that one year, they generally helped the team do very well. Jrue Holliday generally didn't give a crap while he was at UCLA...was just biding his time.

2005? Alrighty then......... I'm guessing a player going from HS to the NBA wouldn't happen very often.... Although, it sounds like it could have been happening more now than ever..... When KG was drafted out of HS by the T-Wolves, he was the first HS player in 20 years....

Yea, Calipari is a good COACH, but he seems to lack in the integrity area. I was very disappointed when UK hired him. And I agree that the "One and Done" is a lousy rule. If you enter, you stick around for multiple years. If you want to be a basketball player with no skills after basketball, then be a basketball player. But to force schools to take these kids for one year ... I would hate it as a coach. Can't pass on the talent, but have no time to build a team ...

Re: NCAA Tournament Challenge

I think I have mentioned it here before, but another rule I would like to see the NCAA change is about pay to student/athletes. I think the NCAA got themselves into trouble with Johnny Football and it is going to come back and bite them. But I think that every scholarship student athlete, regardless of sport, should be paid by the University. The formula for pay should be the average wage for ON CAMPUS STUDENT EMPLOYEES. Take that average wage and pay that for 20 hours per week per student/athlete while school is in session. This would give the student money to pay for dates, pizza, clothing, gas, etc. An education and some spending money. Might go a long way to curbing the Ohio State Tattoo issues of College Sports. Just my $0.02.

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled program ... MARCH MADNESS!

Wow. The Badgers are reminding my of my Iowa Hawkeyes. Can't hit a basket to save their lives.

Just first round. Things change in a hurry. Most important number is the total possible score(PPR)

In my brackets that I am playing for money, I had Wi losing. Ole Miss played really well in the SEC tourny. They had that weird loss to Miss that had everyone scratching their heads. I follow Ole Miss because I have a friend who went there.
