Hi, we just bought a "new to us" 22 ft pontoon boat, and wonder if anyone is familiar with the Navigloo storage system. We want to use it to store our pontoon boat during the summer months in Central Florida. We are snowbirds and are up north in the Summer, but will store the boat here during the hot/humid summer months here in central Florida. We know this system is great for winter storage, but does anyone have any experience with a Navigloo for summer storage they could share with us? We're wondering about mold, mildrew, etc. Any insight you may have would be very helpful. Thanks.

banbeam, when you say "We know this system is great for winter storage" have you used this to protect against snow? I'm looking for something for snow protection.

Re: Navigloo for Storage

I bought a Navigloo last fall. It has wintered very well here in Vermont. Looks great, did a great job of shedding snow, handled the wind & snow storms just fine. I'm very happy with my purchase and should get many years of use out of it.

First, thank you all who have replied...second to try to answer craigmack, no, we have not used this product personally. Virtually all of the reviews we've read involve keeping snow off and generally, people seem to like it. We have spoken to the manufacturer who has no experience with customers using it in humid hot weather like we have here in Florida during the summer months. Our "research" seems to indicate that people who store their boats in the snowy climes are generally pretty happy with the navigloo...I did read one comment where one person was not happy with the fit...difficult to fit the top bar to the other members...he was attempting this alone...but, as I said, generally, people who have snow in the winter seem to like it. For what it's worth...

No one here tried this product to store their boat for the summer months in humit/hot central Florida? It looks like a great alternative for us. We've been using a covermate. It's great, but can trap water when it rains and, of course, in trying to get rid of the water some (or at times) all of it ends up on the carpet...ahhhh, and so it goes...lol

banbeam, the covermate seems to be a good cover... why not build a good frame to keep it taunt and keep water from pooling?

Thanks craigmack, that is probably what we will try to do in the end. We were just wondering if the Navigloo would work for us.

Again, thanks to everyone who responded.

Maybe the Navigloo frame without the tarp would be the way for you to go; along as it would setup in a lowered height that is.

Re: Navigloo for Storage

I bought this last year online from Costco, it arrived missing a bag of parts; ropes cnnectors etc. I called Navigloo in Canada and they sent them right out, pint being customer service was great.

As far as performance I stored my boat in November (i am in CT), the set up was straight forward, and took the better part of a day. I must say that I am impressed, the high peak sheds snow well, and the tarp and frame have held up well, we have had some 60mph winds over the last few weeks, as well as the blizzard and so far so good.

One thing I do love about the cover is that due to the high peak there is much better air circulation so I am noticing less mildew, and I can actually stand up inside the 'toon when I sneak in to inspect to make sure no mice have made a home. ( I have moth balled and dryer sheeted every compartment in the boat).

Overall it is a good product and my thought is for what you would pay to have it shrink wrapped once, you have a system that will last multiple seasons (hopefully)

Well I didnt even know such a thing was made, but year before last I made my own using 2 inch PVC pipe and it has done just fine for 2 winters. But I do not have a huge amount of snow, maybe 1.5 feet all winter. And I got the tarp extra big so it wraps around the back at the pontoons and leaves the bottom open and at the front for air flow, and no mold what so ever this last winter. I was in and out of it many times over the winter, even had a heater in it for work on cold days.
