As some on here already know, I'm going to be installing Nautolex vinyl on my boat decking and have a few questions.
1. The 88 adhesive instructions say that I should seal my wood to prevent moisture absorption from the adhesive. I'm going to use Spar Urethane (exterior grade) for this, the wood is bone dry and I'm sure it will suck this stuff right up. Should I do 1 or 2 coats?
2. The 88 instructions also state that if I'm applying the vinyl to wood I should coat both the vinyl and wood with adhesive instead of just the wood. Is this really necessary if I'm going to seal the wood?
3. The instructions also state to prime all metal surfaces to prevent corrosion, I'm applying to aluminum hatches. Is priming necessary with aluminum?
Thanks for all input.
Edited to say: I'm using bone dry CCA pressure treated plywood approved for the boating industry and don't need to preserve my wood, I just need to seal it.
