We're movin; to the West for the Firekeepers Casino 400 at Michigan this week. Cup and X-Men are running, while the Trucks are squaring off in Texas tomorrow night. The MRN schedule;

We seem to be stuck in a rut as far as entries. 40 drivers have signed up again, so no bubble during qualifying. Rain is rearing it's ugly head for Friday and Saturday. Sunday may have some early overnight rain, but the daylight hours look OK.

News and Notes
  • Keso is not happy that Gordon brought up the Hip-Check door dent at Las Vegas after being penalized at Pocono for the same thing. Poor baby - http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/moto...b7Kz&ocid=iehp
  • It's a first race at Michigan for 2016 - Let's change some aero rules with very limited testing. Again!
  • Keso thinks the the new aero rules are a good thing, but consider that he thought the All-Star rules were great, too.
  • Larson was found to have loose or missing lugnuts during the Pocono post-race inspection. He will be missing his crew chief at Michigan. A bunch got written warnings.
  • Pocono only had one "Mystery" caution that was not shown.
  • TV ratings - Given the one day delay to Monday for rain, the ratings were understandably down.

Dataman won iFl at Pocono for his first :first: of the year. Congrats, DM
Trackchick Stars is still leading the overall, even after having a not so good week
Tune up your rosters before the race begins on Sunday and good luck.

Gotta watch a hockey game! :D

After problems getting cars through inspection and a delayed start, qualifying finished up with Logono sitting on the pole. The rest of the top 12 are Truex, Jr, Stewart, Hamlin, Blaney, Newman, Larson, Dillon, Busch18, Elliott, Edwards, and Stenhouse, Jr.

What was the reason for slow inspections? The new aero rules! Mainly the rear axle offset or "skew", which is now zero. The same setup was used in the All-Star race, so it it isn't entirely new. But more interesting - This morning's practice session used the same rules. So what happened to cars that passed inspection at 11:00 AM and needed multiple inspection lane visits at 4:00 PM? I blame Nascar for plenty of things, like all the rule changes, but this one is on the teams!

Carl went into the turn this morning at 218, so we need to skirt the rules to go faster? Give me a break!

They are almost back up to the speeds achieved after the 2012 repave. So much for taking away speed with reduced downforce or anything else.

Maybe MIS will be the next plate track.

Sorry to hear that X Man, Erik Jones lost his father this week, that seems to be very quick moving illness, it only seems like a couple of months ago that he said his dad was ill, now I understand why he was not giving interviews yesterday. Condolences to you Erik.

25 laps in the books and 6 cars are already a lap down. And there seems to be an abundance of hot dof wrappers and other debris on several grilles.

Green flag stops laps 39-41. Through lap 45, the longest green flag run to open Michigan forever.

Then the first yellow for a Truex spin after Keso stretches fuel and runs out. Or did he?

Third caution after Jr. gets squirrely and spins, caused by The Dinger scraping the wall. Dale Jr. to the garage.

Nope. Jr. tried squeezing between Dinger and Buescher, there was no room pushing the #47 toward the wall and .then Jr, spun.

Now the other Earnhardt is burning up with a better fire than Shrubby. He is out of the car. 5th caution.

Yellow #6 - Smith turns into the wall in front of Elliott causing a debris caution.

Elliott kept the lead after pit stops.

Elliott had a poor restart - Logano in front.

A few cars spinning for one more yellow. #7.
