Just in - Kyle Busch has received clearance to get back in saddle from Nascar. He will be running the All-Star race and plans to make his first Cup race after missing 11 races in the Coke 600. Still no word about Nascar granting Chase eligibility so far.

They gave him a waiver.

Yep - KyB misses almost half the Race to the Chase season, 11 out of 26 races, and he could be in the Chase. I think he needs to be in the top 30 in points with a win to make the Chase, but still!

Have you noticed that Nascar has not said publicly what was wrong with the tires? Only quote which rule was supposedly violated. Any other time they quote the rule and describe the unapproved part. Not this time.

Do you mean NASCAR was vague. Just like the NFL, Brady was "at least generally aware" of the deflated footballs...... 45-7, NE could have used Rugby balls and still won...... But I digress......

Looking forward to the AllStar...........................

There is no reason not to give them waivers, heck all you have to do is win a race an now you are in, hell a dog with a note in his mouth could win a race under the right circumstances. Despite those that don't like those guys on this forum, they do have a heck of a lot of fans across the country and both of them do know how to drive a race car. I have seen far worse from some of the old time drivers I used to watch back in the 70's and early 80's

I thought the NFL over reached until the Patriots gave their rebuttal. If their rebuttal had said, "Yea, we cheated, we got caught, sorry." Okay, don't do it again, move along, nothing to see here. Not a big deal. But their seriously, The Deflater was a term for a guy trying to lose weight? Nail 'em!

Okay, back to NASCAR.

I don't have a problem with the waiver. I don't like the bush brothers, but they are good drivers. If after missing the races they can still finish in the top 30 and win a race, then let them in. It won't be easy for KyBu to finish in the top 30 with so many races missed. If he does, he deserves it. I always thought it was ridiculous to loose eligiblity for the chase because you missed a race. You missed a race ... 0 points. No chance of a win. That should be penalty enough.

I think they also have to be in the top 30 in points which could be a real challenge for Kyle.

I's going to be tough to get the 30th in the points in only 15 races. Last year at the end race #26, the 30th place driver had 407 points. If the same plays out this year, Busch has to score an average of a little over 27 points per for each of the 15 races. And win a race. That means ignoring the 5 bonus points, he has to have an average race finish of 16th. After doing all this high math, I looked at Jayski and they have the whole thing. At least both our numbers agreed.

What will it take for Kyle Busch to make the top 30: Kyle Busch returns to the #18 M&M's Toyota for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte. To race for a title in the 10-race, season-ending Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Busch must win one of the next 15 races, receive a medical waiver from NASCAR and either finish in the top 30 in points, or receive another NASCAR waiver for that requirement as well. Right now, #14-Tony Stewart is 30th in points, with 179 after 11 races. Over 26 races, that projects to about 423 points. For Busch to get 423 points -- and ultimately, the 30th-place driver likely will have slightly more or less than 423 -- he'd have to average 28.2 points in the next 15 races. So far this season, the top 11 drivers in the Sprint Cup standings have averaged at least 28.2 points per race.( )
AND Last year, #38-David Gilliland was 30th in the standings after the September Richmond race with 407 points. Over the past four years, the average point total for 30th place in the driver standings is 420.8 points. Factoring that, Busch would need to average a 16th-place finish to be in the top 30 when the Chase for the Sprint Cup begins in September. #14-Tony Stewart is 30th in the points at the Sprint All-Star break with 179 points in 11 races (an average of 16.3 points per race). If that pace continues for whoever finishes 30th in the points before the Chase begins in September, they would have 423 points. Busch would need to average a 15th-place finish to reach the top 30 in points(NBC Sports)(5-13-2015)

To be honest with you, I really don't care if he makes the chase, I was simply addressing the issue of giving him a waver. Like I said a dog with a note in his mouth could win a race these days. I have been watching or attending NASCAR races for 40 years now and it is a very sanitized function that many of us watch on Sundays, BBQ, Work on the boat, go play with the grandkids and hit the record button on the DVR. It is really not what it used to be.. But it is what we have.

I think what I am going to do is put together a nice 4 hour DVD with recorded images from all of the Movies about NASCAR as well as highlights from the various races over the last 50 years and make copies of it, send it out to whoever wants one and then at noon on Sundays, we can all stick them in the player hit play and talk about the exciting race we watched!

The Deflater explanation I agree was a joke. Just like Goodell being the arbitrator during Brady's appeal..... Really?????

For what it's worth, I'm against KB Jr's waiver. Being that I dislike the guy is reason enough, but in all fairness "anyone" who misses 11 races of 26 in the regular season shouldn't be eligible for the Chase. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it........ :)

The trucks are starting to roll. Unfortunately, so is Mikey's mouth............

That was a good truck race. Jones got hosed with that last caution. He had it won...... Lost by a foot. 2 weeks in a row he dominated and didn't win. Last week he ran out of gas.... Both him and Kahne, who won, started last.

We'll see if the All Star race lives up to its hype.... Danica got the fan favorite..... :)

I see that Kasey flunked post-race inspection. I wonder if Nascar will ever DQ a winner? If Jones hadn't been late to the driver meeting, he would have started up front and most likely won the race.

They should. If a driver is illegal after the race and they won, bye bye win.....

Is this pit stop I'm seeing during AllStar qualifying unique to the AllStar race? I never watch qualifying...

Shrubby missed his pit stall by 2 spots.....

This is All Star qualifying, unique to this race, heck Harvick missed his pit by 3 spots and had to back up.

No pit road speed limit for the All-Star. That's what they're saying.
