I didn't want to Google this morning concerning Ryan Newman's condition. I wasn't prepared for the worse. Thank God he is going to live. Athletes and working Joes know the hazards of their sports or occupations and accept the dangers that come with the job or you don't. You don't have to be a race car driver or 1st responder to have a dangerous job. More construction and mine workers are killed in Ontario every year then all of the Police and Firemen have perished on the job in the last 10 years in all of Canada. That stat is 20 years old but I would think it still stands today.
Whether or not Ryan Newnman ever races again doesn't even matter right now but I bet he is thinking about it. He's a pro and a competitor. James Hinchcliff , our Canuck Indy driver, has not yet recovered from an Indy car crash in practice, what 3 years ago? I read that he works everyday to get back in a car.
Thank God he wasn't killed. It sure looked bad. Hair on the back of my neck stood up when they started shielding the cockpit from everyone.
