Hoping Newman is okay. Non life threatening is great, but no reports is not a great sign either.

Had a break during the robotics build, checked FL to see I had missed the end of stage 2 by 3 laps. If I had traded out Byron before the stage I would have had 18 more points. Another lost wheel chock.

I don't think Byron was done smashing the inside wall and he got stuffed again. Into the garage and I didn't have to worry about the garage shuffle for the rest of the race.

I didn't want to Google this morning concerning Ryan Newman's condition. I wasn't prepared for the worse. Thank God he is going to live. Athletes and working Joes know the hazards of their sports or occupations and accept the dangers that come with the job or you don't. You don't have to be a race car driver or 1st responder to have a dangerous job. More construction and mine workers are killed in Ontario every year then all of the Police and Firemen have perished on the job in the last 10 years in all of Canada. That stat is 20 years old but I would think it still stands today.

Whether or not Ryan Newnman ever races again doesn't even matter right now but I bet he is thinking about it. He's a pro and a competitor. James Hinchcliff , our Canuck Indy driver, has not yet recovered from an Indy car crash in practice, what 3 years ago? I read that he works everyday to get back in a car.

Thank God he wasn't killed. It sure looked bad. Hair on the back of my neck stood up when they started shielding the cockpit from everyone.

I am just glad to hear he is alive and look forward to information as they feel it is prudent to release it. I do pray he makes a full recovery.

A 20 minute compilation of Nascar wrecks over the years. Warning not for the faint of heart. I got choked up a few times.

The number of drivers that have walked away is testiment to all the hard work the engineers, owners, teams and drivers that have made safety the #1 priority in auto racing. The catch fences have saved hundreds of fans lives, maybe more than hundreds. I find it interesting that many of these terrible wrecks are on the last lap.

edit: If you decide not to watch the video do yourself a favour and watch the thing at the 16:49 mark. It will warm your heart and give you a laugh. Just so happens the crash involves a young Ryan Newman.

88 & 24 TO THE TOP! is our first race winner of the year. Needless to say he is also our league leader too. Congrats. :first:

Next race is at Vegas and all three series will be on the track.

Unfortunately traumatic injuries such as Dale had are almost impossible to predict. Right place, wrong time often times baffles us to see the outcome.

I just heard on Boston's CBS affiliate that Ryan Newman walked out of the hospital this afternoon. Less than 48 hours from being addmitted.

Many prayers have been answered.

There is a video on FoxNews that shows him walking out with his daughters. Very cool.
