News and Notes
- Martinsville penalties only for loose nuts - $10K crew chief fines, no biggie.
- Tony Stewart and the Kevin Ward Jr. family have settled the lawsuit stemming from Ward being hit by Smoke during a sprint car race several years ago.
- X-Men Dash 4 Cash program returns, starting with the top four full-time finishing drivers qualifying for the first Dash 4 Cash race next week at Dover.
- Sponsors have been mentioned often in the race updates, but this is the first time it's about a track, Pure Michigan will no long sponsor the August race at MIS. No word on who or if there will be a title sponsor.
- Talking about sponsors - The biggest one hasn't been resolved. Monster and Nascar still have no renewal agreement.
- 2021 may be a year of reckoning for Nascar. There is talk of dropping races from some of the tracks having 2 races and poor attendance. I think this is all tracks with 2 races seeing as how attendance is dropping across the board.
- TV ratings - No numbers for Martinsville, only number of viewers. The rain delayed race only had 1.19M watching compared to last year's on-time 4.0M. Nascar was the 3rd most watched sporting event behind the NCAA Women's Elite 8 games.
- After 2 heart wrenching weeks, sam60 can finally claim the Martinsville iFL crown. Wait, that won't chock a trailer or stop a door, here it is Sam. Sam congrats on your first win this year.
- FlaCowboy is sill the overall leader, with Trackchick stars in 2nd.
- Pole pick locks at 5:40 PM ET on Friday. Lock it in for your chance at 5 bonus points. Good luck.
