Re: Naming Boat-Need Help---Please
In general, lame puns and sexual innuendo plays just scream "amateur hour" when it comes to boat names. There is such a thing as trying too hard.
Also, if you've seen the name more than once, there are probably 20,000 boats out there with that name. Here in Minnesota, for example, we have Lake Minnetonka. So, of course, every third boat on that lake is named Tonka Toy. That was clever when the first guy thought of it 50 years ago. Now it's just lame.
Personally, I like the names that are cool and tell a back story about the owner. For example, a friend of mine has a very 20 foot open bow. He's a classic rock fan and has the BEST playlists for the beach.
His boat's name: Little Wing. If you don't get it, look it up and all will be clear. A perfect statement of who owns the boat.
My boat is a 22 foot Wellcraft named after my wife's favorite song, but also a commentary on our rather northern latitude: Distant Sun.
I'd rather have a boat name that is unique and leaves some people saying "I don't get it." rather than some sad sex pun.
