OK, I'll make this as brief as I can. I have a 95 115 Johnson (model J115TXAOR). The boat belonged to my wife's deceased dad and it sat up about 6 years without being started. Naturally, we had to get the carb rebuilt, new fuel pump, impeller, fuel line, flush the tank, etc.
All this was done last summer and the boat ran like a bat out of hell, but then we parked it up all winter (with the necessary fuel stabilizer protocols). The first time we took it out in the spring, it again ran well but then at WOT for about 2 minutes, it just died and wouldn't even try to start (like the kill switch got tripped- not even a click). Then, we sat there for a minute and it fired right up and ran, but then wouldn't go full throttle for about 10 minutes (missing). Gradually, it would kick in and run WOT again for 2 minutes or so, then the same thing. Wash, rinse, repeat, over and over.
I've had people pump the bulb non-stop when it was missing and not picking up (full throttle)- no result. When it finally does kick in, it dies and acts like it's seized up and will never run again, then suddenly it fires right up. I'm thinking power pack, stator or something electrical. Thoughts?
