Well, I don't rant much, but I am really upset now and I will rant some.
Most if not all of you know that I have been having trouble with the ol ticker.

Guess what, it ain't the ticker, it's a vein going from it.
I was not real happy with the last event when the "doctors" could find nothing wrong per say except that "maybe" the aorta valve was bad, so I called another heart specialist for a second opnion and after he looked at all the files and such, calls me this evening and let's me know the news, it's a vein of some sort leading away from the aorta valve that is the problem. Seems it's a little small and not allowing enough blood to leave the aorta under certain conditions.

Now this people really goes all over me. I am glad it's just that, but how could these "doctors" miss that?
That is what upsets me. All the proding and poking and them telling me the aorta valve is bad and needs repalced.

That would have been cute, replace the valve and still have the problem.

The new doctor wants to put something in there to clean that vein out, says build up is closing it up some. I forget what he called it, I was so upset at the other guys, I was not paying much attention, but will talk to him more next week.

Ok, rant over and I feel much better now.

I would agree. In their defense, it was explained to me one time that medicine is not a finite science. That's why they call it "practicing". It is frustrating. One of the most frustrating parts is the appearance of the medical professionals to be jaded.

If it was precise, each of us would have a shop manual.

I hope this diagnosis proves a less serious ailment than was first thought. Good luck.

IMO considering the seriousness of coronary problems, I would seek a third opinion, or more. Good news that the problem may be the vein, but what if that doc is wrong.

As posted already, physicians are no more that mechanics who diagnose condition. Some merely work from a repair manual, some have that intuitive sixth sense and discover the root cause of a condition.

Best to you SBN.

Did you hear the one about the Aussie mechanic Bruce and the Aussie Doctor Adrian.

Bruce was still working on Dr Adrians Mercedes when Dr Adrian turned up to collect it.

Bruce says to the Dr, " how come you get paid so much more for operating on people than I do operating on your car. It is all the same isn't it"

to which Dr Adrian replies, 'try doing it with the motor running Bruce"

Good to hear they are making progress with your diagnosis Lester. Take care.

Cheers
Phillip

Well, on the bright side Les, they don't have to cut ya' open to do what needs to be done. I think Flathead called it right. They can go in from the leg and put this hollow piece of mesh in there. It opens up and expands the vein and keeps the clot from letting go as well as gettin' the blood to pump better. Pretty common procedure anymore. Beats the crap outta' open heart surgery.

Re: My turn to rant

I had bypass surgery 15 years ago... wasn't a lot of fun but it sure fixed me up nicely. On the other hand I had a friend who had surgery twice and they finally put in a stent and he's been in good shape since.
