Last fall I covered all my bulbs with a nice layer of fluffy mulch and sure enough, they started stirring under this nice blanket by the end of February.During most of March they were protected by a foot of snow, but now the snow is gone and the southern exposure is doing its work.Just 3 days ago the tulips and crocuses were about 2 inches high together with the daffodils and hyacinths and a whole slew of other flowers.Yesterday my first 2 crocuses were actually blooming.Today as I walked out to check my garden, all the crocuses were bitten down to half their size and so were most of the tulips.according to the tracks it was the work of a deer munching away in my suburban garden.
Funny thing is that it seems to prefer red over yellow tulips.

And I will be hauled away for indecent exposure....
I can see it already.
But Your Honor,I was only trying to defend my tulips....

lol Around here the deer are so thick I have to be careful walking across the yard to not get trampled.

A shotgun loaded with a slug will take care of them and you won't get a indecent exposure ticket.

The apple orchards around here hang small hotel size bar soap on the young trees and it seems to repel the deer. Contact your local fish and wildlife warden and ask what works as a good repellant.

I have a strong northern exposure with a mountain to the south.... never get any real sun :( I still have a foot of snow.

spray them with diluted hot sauce-No not the deer; the flowers! they will stop after one unless they're starved (in that case you won't stop 'em without a gun ) Side note : if gunnen 'em becomes necessary at least you've started seasoning them allready!:D

Never had any luck with any deer repellant. The young ones taist everything and the older ones pull out anything they don't like. All our friends say "look at the size of our tomatos", "look at the size of our cucumbers". All we could say was "look at the size of our deer".
